New Search Engines Give It A Go

Microsoft’s Bing joins Wolfram Alpha as new competitors to Google in the search engine field, and each has their standout characteristics. Bing puts in-line video previews and some shopping information front and center, while Wolfram Alpha breaks down your subject and provides a mini-portfolio of information around your search topic. So which one are you going to start using?

Each search engine has their own method of organizing information, so it’s ultimately going to boil down to which one you feel most comfortable with. Wolfram Alpha is still undergoing development (aren’t we all), and it’s ultimately shooting for something entirely different than Google or Bing - it’s not trying to ferret out information, but answer actual questions. Bing and Google share an emphasis on cataloging and organizing information along with a suite of informational tools and services (Live Office, Google Docs, and the like). Have fun playing with them all - it’ll be interesting to see what develops.
