Why Is Offline Gmail Such A Big Deal?

Google’s Gmail has been rolling out offline access for Gmail and Calendar for a week or so, and the results have been working fairly well.  The question, though, is “Why is this such a big deal?”  Wireless internet access is fairly ubiquitous at this point, and Gmail isn’t terribly useful unless you[’re connected to the Internet.  Neither is syncing your Google Calendar.  So take the time to do it?

True, this isn’t as useful as it would have been a few years ago, before wireless coverage was as widespread as it is now.  But there are still instances where you don’t have the access, or you don’t want to pay the fees to use the wireless connection.  With offline access, you’ll be able to write email or check your calendar, even if you can’t make online changes immediately.  You’ll also be able to check sent or received email, in case you need directions or information.

So while this change isn’t mind-boggling, it does give you a little convenience.

I set my email account up for my iPhone and it works, but I want to change it now. How do I do that?

Go to Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Add Account to add another one. If you want to delete an account, touch that one and scroll to the bottom to find the Delete Account button.
