Getting What You Need On The Internet - Email
Now that you have your lucky computer recipient set up with virus protection, you can move on to getting them an email account. This may sound old-hat for many readers, but if your recipient hasn’t had a lot of experience with computers yet, you’re starting at square one with them.Even if they already have access to an account through work or their Internet service provider, a good webmail account has a few advantages over those options:
- Getting personal email in a webmail account is always better than getting it at work.
- It’s accessible from any computer connected to the Internet and many mobile devices.
- Even if you’re already using an ISP email account, a webmail account is a great address to use for contests, product registrations, and other services that might open your email address up to spam.
Google’s Gmail is a go-to service for this because it’s easy to access, has plenty of storage room, and you can forward it to another account or make it work with standard graphical email clients like Outlook. Helping your gift recipient get a Google account will be helpful in a few ways down the road, too, so you might as well get them started now.
