Addictive iPhone game - Pebbles - Free for 30 Days

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Objective Development, makers of such great utilities as LaunchBar (my personal fave) and Little Snitch, are offering their addictive new iPhone/iPod touch game, Pebbles, absolutely free until the end of August. Furthermore, you can get both the Mac version and iPhone/iPod version free!

It’s a great little game, clever and quite addictive. You should definitely check one or both versions out. You just can’t beat the price (both are free).

Free Fix for Trash Troubles…

Friday, June 5th, 2009

The other day I was cleaning up my hard disks by throwing away unneeded files and folders. When I tried to empty the Trash, this is what I saw:

An hour later there were still 2,775,000+ files left to be deleted. At that rate it would have taken several months to empty the trash… so I downloaded a little app called Super Empty Trash, launched it, selected All Volumes from its Delete files from window:

A few minutes later all 2.75 million files and folders were gone!

Kudos to SuperEmptyTrash’s creator, Marco Balestra, for making such a useful little tool and for distributing it at no charge. Thanks, Marco!

It seems everyone and his sister wants to learn how to write iPhone apps… so I think it’s awesome that Stanford University (yes, that Stanford) is offering its iPhone Application Programming course. The course includes video of the lectures, plus PDFs of all the associated materials such as assignments, handouts, and syllabuses. And the best part is the price: It’s all absolutely free!
